Set against the dramatic backdrop of Scotland’s unspoilt south-west coast, Knockinaam Lodge is preparing to host its inaugural Revive & Restore Wellness Retreat this June. From Tuesday 17th to Saturday 21st June 2025, the historic coastal hideaway will welcome guests for a five-day programme designed to reset body and mind in nature.

The retreat reflects a growing trend towards transformational travel – experiences that go beyond relaxation to offer personal growth, healing and deeper connection. With wellness tourism projected to surpass pre-pandemic levels globally, demand is shifting towards immersive, hyper-local offerings rooted in natural environments.

Tucked into a secluded cove near Portpatrick, Knockinaam Lodge is steeped in heritage – once a Victorian hunting lodge, it famously hosted Winston Churchill and General Eisenhower during WWII and features in The Thirty-Nine Steps by John Buchan. Today, it is an award-winning boutique retreat with just 10 individually styled rooms, 3 AA Rosette dining and private beach access framed by 30 acres of gardens and wild woodland.

The Revive & Restore retreat has been thoughtfully curated to harmonise movement, mindfulness and nature:

Retreat Highlights Include:

  • Qigong and yoga on a private beach

  • Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) and Japanese tea ceremony in nearby Kilsture Forest

  • Blue health immersion and cold water therapy along Killantringan Bay

  • Guided foraging and wild cooking over open fire

  • Yoga in the garden sanctuary

  • A Summer Solstice celebration and sacred cacao ceremony

Each evening concludes with a seven-course seasonal tasting menu by Head Chef Tony Pierce, showcasing organic, locally sourced ingredients – many harvested directly from the lodge’s gardens.

This first-of-its-kind experience at Knockinaam Lodge marks a new chapter for the historic property and signals a broader movement in Scottish hospitality: one that embraces slowness, sustainability and the restorative power of place.

For those seeking a genuine sense of renewal this summer, the shores of the Irish Sea offer a quietly powerful answer.
