Skiing Trip to Arlberg 1800 resort in St Christoph, Austria

The Dovetail Agency

The Dovetail Agency has recently returned from a skiing trip to arlberg1800 RESORT in St Christoph, Austria. The three day pre-Christmas press trip was designed to show the country’s best ski writers what more arlberg1800 RESORT has to offer than just winter sports.

We were welcomed to Arlberg Hospiz Hotel with a glass of champagne and a delicious lunch in the Chimney restaurant with its huge fire and festive decorations, getting us into the Christmas spirit. After lunch we received a tour of the snowy resort including the hotel’s exclusive Skyfall chalet, the ultimate luxury after a long day on the slopes.

After the tour we relaxed in the hotel’s spa with its extensive menu of inviting treatments, sweating off our delicious lunch in the traditional Finnish sauna, followed by a dip in the swimming pool. Later that evening the group gathered in the 14th century wine cellar to view the hotel’s vast collection of wines. Dinner was then served in the Tiroler Wirtshaus restaurant, where we enjoyed traditional Austrian food along with sommelier paired wines chosen from the historic wine cellar.

Breakfast at the hotel provides guests with tables of food to suit all tastes, a tea menu with more than 18 varieties to choose from, along with a 16 piece jam tray. Once we were ready to hit the slopes our guides met us and showed us why the Arlberg region is the place to go for winter sport enthusiasts of all ages. After five hours of skiing we stopped off at the world famous Hospiz Alm restaurant. After enjoying a hearty meal we were treated to a tour of the Hospiz Alm restaurant’s wine cellar, the world’s biggest collection of large bottle wines with some up to 80 litres in size.

In the evening we met with the hotel’s owner Florian Werner for a tour of the new Contemporary Art gallery and Concert Hall, a Є26 million investment into arts and culture at the arlberg1800 resort. The art space’s influence can be seen throughout the hotel, with art located throughout the rooms and public spaces for guest’s enjoyment.  Our three days at Arlberg Hospiz Hotel allowed us to discover that the Arlberg Hospiz hotel offers more than just the skiing and snowboarding; guests are able to choose from art, concerts, spa treatments, a range of innovative winter sports, wine tasting, and casino evenings as well as a choice of five restaurants to dine in throughout their stay.
